2012 Small Lot Eric’s Chardonnay
We affectionately call this wine “Big Daddy Eric’s Chardonnay”. Unlike many “buttery” Chardonnays, this old-world style Chardonnay is fermented and aged in stainless steel rather than oak, and does not undergo malolactic fermentation, creating a great balance between fruit and acidity. Enjoy fresh, crisp aromas and flavors of bright green apple, pear, citrus, white peach and minerality.
The grapes for this wine come from our Karl Wente and Herman Wente vineyard blocks in the Livermore Valley. The Herman Wente Vineyard is the site of the original Wente Chardonnay descendants from which cuttings were selected 20 years ago. The vineyards are planted in a Livermore gravel soil with excellent drainage. All of the vineyards are sustainably farmed and hand-harvested in the early morning hours.
The wine was fermented in stainless steel tank.
The wine was aged for 4 months in stainless steel tank.
