2011 Petite Sirah
Our Petite Sirah has a beautiful dense color and aromas and flavors of spice, cherry, black plum and an undercurrent of cocoa. With mouth-filling, well balanced tannins, this wine has a smooth yet powerful finish.
The Petite Sirah grapes were harvested from the Ghielmetti, Covarrubias, Las Positas-Wetmore, and Marlow blocks. The Graciano was harvested from the Mel Ranch block.
After being handpicked, the grapes were hand-sorted at the winery and then gently pressed, leaving any possible bitter tannins behind. The Petite Sirah and Graciano were both fermented in small one-ton open top bins and the grapes were punched down by hand twice daily, as well as small stainless steel tanks where the must was gently pumped over twice daily.
The wine was aged for 20 months in French, Eastern European, American, and neutral oak barrels.
