2011 Small Lot Grenache
This is a beautiful example of Livermore Valley Grenache, with lush cherry, raspberry, currant and earth with hints of toasted oak. This full-bodied wine displays vibrant acidity, medium tannins and a beautiful array of fruit flavors that linger on the finish.
The Grenache was sourced from our Marina vineyard, the Barbera from our Smith vineyard and the Petite Verdot from our Sacchau and Smith vineyards in the Livermore Valley. These grapes were ultra-farmed, handpicked into half-ton bins and hand sorted in order to ensure premium quality.
The Grenache, Petit Verdot and Barbera were gently crushed and then fermented in small one ton bins, being punched down by hand twice daily in order to maximize color and tannin extraction prior to transferring to barrel.
The Grenache was aged in French, Hungarian and neutral oak barrels for 13 months. The Petit Verdot was aged in American, French and neutral oak barrels for 13 months. The Barbera was aged for 13 months in neutral oak barrels.
