Heirloom Tomato Week at The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards, September 16-22
Once Labor Day has passed, the grapes are plump, and we turn the page on the monthly calendar, another sure sign that fall is on the way is the arrival of the bountiful tomato harvest. Beside the beautiful indoor-outdoor setting of The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, Executive Chef Matt Greco heads out to the half-acre organic garden to select the freshest and ripest to be plucked for his weekly menus.
In collaboration with Master Gardener Diane Dovholuk, they've identified the perfect timing for this year's heirloom tomato harvest menu. For diners, that means straight from the garden to the plate, after a stop in the kitchen for perfection.
Chef Matt Greco has created a fantastic three course lunch and dinner menu highlighting Wente’s own organically grown homegrown heirloom tomatoes with such dishes as king salmon with red wine, tomato braised cranberry beans, pistachio and black olive bouillon. The dessert menu at lunch features strawberries and tomato champagne sabayon.
The Tomato Heirloom Week special menu is available from Monday, September 16, 2013. Lunch is priced at $29 per person, dinner is priced at $49 per person. A fabulous wine pairings menu is available, as well as delicious à la carte menu items, tax and gratuity not included.
