The fruit for Sandstone Merlot comes from a gently sloping formation of hills running along the southeastern corner of the famous Livermore Valley. The Wente family’s hillside Merlot vineyards deliver fully ripened fruit with exceptional depth of character.
Fermentation:
Each varietal was harvested separately and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine was pumped over twice daily to increases the color and tannin extractions and improves mouthfeel through the integration of oxygen.
Aging:
Aged for 20 months in French, American, Eastern European, and neutral oak.
