Welcome our new Executive Chef, Matt Greco!We are excited to announce the arrival of our new Executive Chef, Matt Greco to The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards. Matt comes to The Restaurant fresh from a 12 year stretch in New York where he graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park. After graduation Matt spent the next 10 years cooking in the vibrant and demanding New York City restaurant scene. Chef Greco spent four years cooking with Daniel Boulud at the acclaimed Café Boulud, which the New York Times hailed with three stars, then joined the opening team at Chef Gray Kunz’s flagship restaurant, Café Gray. Next, Matt joined Chef Andrew Carmellini, as Sous Chef, to launch A Voce where the restaurant was awarded three stars by the New York Times, which also named it “The Best New Restaurant of 2006.” In 2008 Matt was hired as Executive Chef to launch Char No. 4 in Brooklyn. At Char No. 4, Matt garnered numerous accolades, including New York Magazine’s “Top Ten Best New Restaurants 2009,” four Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand picks, 2009 – 2012, and Zagat named, Char No. 4, “Best New Comer 2010.”
Like The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards, Chef Greco embraces the philosophy of serving simply prepared dishes crafted to evoke full flavors through the use of the highest quality seasonal ingredients, creative composition and sound cooking technique.
Chef Greco’s first efforts will include evolving The Restaurant menu into the Fall season. The menu’s progression will reflect Matt’s inspiration, perspective and background in cooking at top restaurants in the nation.Read more about Matt from Diablo Magazine here!
