Wente Vineyards Presents
Karl's Artist Bio

Thanks for exploring "Discover the Wine, Discover The Music." If you're reading this, it's likely that you, like me, love fine wine and great music. Both are extraordinary complements to the moments in life that we cherish the most--reflection, celebration, creation and inspiration. I've put some of my thoughts down, as a winemaker and a musician, on why I believe these songs and wines are especially well-suited for each other. Of course, I encourage you to mix and match to discover your own personal favorites.

What a way to kick off a three day weekend! We are very honored that Forbes chose DWDM as the torchbearers for a new way of looking at wine pairings.

Whether you were rocking Bumbershoot with The New Mastersounds, sampling the bounty of the Livermore Harvest Fest with Karl & co, or just chillin’ at home, we have a feeling there might have been some fine wine & tunes in your weekend mix.

We are politely nudging you to share the deets with us. We especially want to know what ya drank & what ya listened to, but feel free to share anything that won’t get ya in (too much) trouble…

Welcome to Vintage 3 of Discover the Wine, Discover the Music, and our brand spankin’ new blog! We hope you find some new fave artists, like UK additions to the DWDM family, The New Mastersounds and Lesser Panda, or rediscover old loves like Maria Taylor.

As you know, we love our wine/music pairings over here at DWDM. Unlike a wine/food pairing, where some match-ups definitely make more sense than others (dig out those old chemistry class notes), with a wine/music pairing there is never a wrong answer; the pairing can be based on ANYTHING that moves and inspires you.

Speaking of Maria, we asked her what Wente wine she would pair herself with, and here’s her answer:

I pretty much go through phases with wine… three years ago I was in to Spanish Riojas. Two years ago I was big into Red Zins. Last year I was in my Cabernet phase. I wonder what will be next? Cartoons and forever plans reminds me of something on the lighter side… maybe a Pinot Noir or maybe a Beaujolais smile

We see some Small Lot Pinot Blanc in her future, thanks to Karl’s pairing, but we want to know what you think. What Wente wine would you pair with Maria Taylor, & why?
