Food Network and Wente Vineyards Announce Entwine, a California Wine Portfolio
Leaders in Food and Wine Collaborate in Creation of New Wines
(New York, NY): February 18, 2011 – Food Network and Wente Vineyards today announced Entwine, the first Food Network wine portfolio featuring four varietals – a 2009 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Grigio. Created with the 100 million households the network reaches in mind, as well as consumers across America, this new wine line from two of the country’s leading food and wine pioneers will be available in summer 2011. “We wanted to take the mystery out of wine for our viewers so that they could enjoy the marriage of food and wine as much as we do,” says Sergei Kuharsky, General Manager of New Enterprises, Food Network.
The initial inspiration for Entwine was viewers’ interest in Food Network introducing them to the world of wine. Food Network identified world-class American wineries and chose Wente Vineyards because of the quality of their wine, as well as their innate understanding of wine consumers and shared vision of the new portfolio. Food Network and the Wente team including Karl Wente, fifth generation winemaker at Wente Family Estates, came together to develop and blend wines that are delicious on their own yet also marry easily and beautifully with a wide range of food pairings. “The extended Wente family is excited to partner with the culinary trailblazers at Food Network to create wines designed to enhance your favorite foods, from casual to festive occasions,” says Carolyn Wente, CEO of Wente Vineyards.
Wente has over 125 years and five generations of winemaking heritage and will source grapes from 3,000 acres of their family-owned, estate acres of sustainably farmed vineyards. Entwine will be available nationwide in summer 2011 for $12.99.
